STUDENT SUCCESS STATEMENT
"Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow."
Robert Kiyoski

Reflection:
I agree with this statement because if you don't act now, you won't do anything in life. In my case, i would love to be a musician one day, but what's the point if I don't do anything about it and just sit around and wait for the opportunity to come. That is not the way it works. You must go knocking on opportunity's door and go get what you want!

" There is no justification ever for choosing any part of what you know to evil"
Choosing evil over the good is horrible. Nothing good ever comes from it. Even the word evil sounds creepy  and bad for a reason and that's a warning to everybody that nothing form it comes good.

Tip 5: Keep a list of Questions
When you feel confused about something you’re reading, write down any questions you have. Sometimes your questions are answered as you read further. Of not, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Remember, teachers create assignments; they’ve read the texts and are familiar with them. When you have specific questions, your teachers can provide answers that will help you better understand the material. Learning is rooted in questions developed and asked by the learner.
Asking questions to yourself, to the teacher, and to others, is a great learning method. When you cease to ask questions, you cease to exist to a great extend. Read actively by silently asking questions as you read. Questioning immerses you into the material you are reading and therefor will expand your mental capacities more than almost anything  else.
The philosopher Sir Francis Bacon said, “knowledge is power.” Improving your reading comprehension is the key to gaining important knowledge and making the most of your education. So pick up a book … and pen.

" When I was teaching basketball, I urged my players to try their players to try their hardest to improve on that very day, to make that practice a masterpiece.
This rule is even more important inc life than basketball. You have to apply yourself each day to become a little better. By applying yourself tot he task of becoming a little better each and every day, over a period of time, you will become a lot better. Only then will you be able to approach being the best you can be. It begins by trying to make each day count and knowing you can never make up for a lost day."
John Wooden.
I agree with this statement because becoming the best you can be will not only benefit you in what you want to do, but it will set an example for those who want to do the same but have doubts about themselves.

Tip 3: Do the Research
Literary critics have written vast numbers of analytical and critical pieces on countless books. If you’re having trouble understanding a particular text, do some research and see what knowledgeable sources have to say about it. In addition to increasing your comprehension, you’ll also be showing initiative, something teachers always like to see. Always use legitimate and scholarly sources, not condensed study guides. Going the extra mile in your research elevates your achievement 10-fold.
Tips4: Use a dictionary
Make  sure you have a access to a dictionary when you’re reading. You can often figure out the meaning of an unfamiliar word by using context clues, but sometimes you can’t.  Rather than simply skipping  over the words you don’t know, take time to look them up. The results are well worth the effort. Your comprehension will increase greatly, and you’ll build your vocabulary at the same time.

This should be something everyone should have gone through at some point in their life. When you've done a bad thing, it'll always come back and get you. There is no escape from it. Always do the right thing and good things will come from that.

5 tips for Success
Reading and writing go hand in hand. The better you understand a text, the more likely you are to successfully communicate your thoughts about it in writing. So it’s important to develop strong skills in both areas. With that in mind, here’s important how to improve your reading comprehension.
Tips 1-2
Tip 1: Annotate
Be an active reader. Instead of passively reading a text, take notes about important story elements, key factual information and significant ideas in the text.
Tip 2: Note the Author’s Writing Style
Every author writes with a  purpose, using deliberate methods to successfully relate specific information to the audience. When you’re reading, look for patterns in the author’s writing. For example, you may notice a repetition of key words, phrases or symbols – or the use of distinctive type of sentence structure. Authors employ these writing strategies to help readers comprehend a central argument or theme, so be sure to explore how these techniques create meaning.

The three don'ts
Don't whine
Don't complain
Don't make excuses

Never whine about anything. Never be lazy to do anything because it will just hold you back. Don't complain because if you do, that's all you'll ever do in your life and it won't do you any good. Don't Make excuses because you'll never get anywhere in life if you do that you're whole life.

Tips 3-5
3. Set Attainable Goals
If you’re having trouble writing a 25- page paper for class because it seems like such like a big job, don’t focus on that final number. Break the paper down and consider each section of your paper individually. You can handle any project in small chunks.
4. Find a Social Support Network
Create a group of people around you who want to help you succeed. Mentors can be teachers or family friends who can give you guidance and help you develop new skills. Counselors can help you with planning your courses and starting to explore colleges. You can also research out to friends and peers who can motivate you by listening and share ideas.
5. Acknowledge Your Accomplishments
Give yourself a quick reward when you complete an assignment or task. Take a walk, send an email, get a snack. Then move on the next project.

" The Three Nevers"
Never Lie
Never Cheat
Never Steal
John Wooden

Those words are words to live by. Here is a man who was a basketball coach. He was very successful in wining 88 consecutive games, but being a winner wasn't the most significant thing in his life. This statement shows that if you do good things, good things will happen to you if you do them for the right reason.

5 tips for staying motivated

5 tips for staying motivated
Tips 1-2
To succeed in high school and college, you have to do your best at all times. But sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated, even when you really care about the work you’re doing. Here are five ways to stay on the right track.
1. Focus on High-Impact Activities
The key terms to succeed in school is staying focused on your course work. Make a list to get an overall picture of your workload before you start to tackle any of it. Then, make a plan. Although it’s tempting to do the simplest assignments first, those that take more time and effort to accomplish are probably the ones that you’ll learn the most from.
To determine what priorities are, rank your assignments in the order of their importance. Then rearrange your time and devote more energy toward those that have the greatest impact on your course work and grades. For example, even though all homework assignments are important, studying for midterm exams takes priority over writing a paragraph for English class. As you complete each tasks, think of it as another step on your way to college success.
2. Create New Challenges
Changing your approach can help you interest in what you’re doing. If you’ve been given as assignment similar to one you’ve done in the past, think about it in a different way. If you wrote an essay for a creative assignment last year, try a poem this time. For book reports, pick a history book instead of another biography.

"You have only always to do what is right. It will become easier by practice, and you enjoy in the midst of your trials the pleasure of an approving conscience."

Take Control of Homework

Take Control of Homework
So it doesn’t Control You
Part 3
Take advantage of any free time
If you have a study period or a long bus ride, use the time to review notes, prepare for an upcoming class or start your homework. Flash cards are a great learning tool. They make it easy to handle, and are marvelous tool to help you learn and remember anything. Put the hole in the upper left corner of each   index card and connect the stack of your flash cards with a ring. Then the cards are bound and not flopping around. Flash cards bound like this act like a small book with pages. You can even have separate ringed stacks for each subject. WHATEVER YOU WANT TO REMEMBER, PUT IT ON A CARD.
Study with a friend
Get together with friends and classmates to quiz each other, compare notes and predict test questions. Consider joining a study group.
Communicate
If you have concerns about the amount or type of homework you have, you may want to talk to your family, teachers or counselor. They can help you understand how much time you need to allot for homework and how to manage your tasks.
Celebrate Your  Achievements
Reward yourself for hitting milestones or doing something well!

"BE always sure you're right then go ahead"

Refection
Always do something for the right thing, never for the wrong things. This statement says to go right ahead do what you want if it's the right thing. An example would be superman. He is a hero who never used is powers to do wrong, or he never did it for the attention. He did it because he can. Although it's not real, it shows a good example for this statement.

Part 2
Keep Things in Perspective
Know how much weight each assignment or test carries, and use your time accordingly. Don’t waste time, but be wise and smart. Doing the most important things first is being wise and smart.

Keep your mind from wandering by taking notes, underlining sections, discussing topics with others or relating your homework to something you’re studying in another class. Learn actively and not passively. Be anxiously engaged in your studies and you will have a great experience. Demonstrate good attitude toward home assignments, and you will begin to love doing it.
Organize your Information
People process information in different ways. Some people like draw pictures or charts to digest information, others prefer to read out loud or make detailed outlines. Try to find methods that work best for you. ask your teacher for recommendations if you’re having trouble.

Take Control of Homework So it doesn't control you part 1

Take Control of Homework
So It Doesn’t Control You
Part 1
Although very few students love homework, it does serve a purpose. Homework helps you
·       Reinforce what you’ve learned during the day.
·       Build study habits that are essential in college.
·       Prepare for classes for your classes.
Get a sense of progress.
Here are some tips to help you deal with homework more efficiently and effectively.
Set the mood
Create a good study area with everything you need (for example, a calculator). If you don’t have a quiet place at home, try your school or local library.
Know Where to Begin
Make a list of everything you need to do, and note all deadlines. Do the more difficult assignments first, so you don’t have to face them at the end.
Study at the Same Time Every Day
Even if you don’t have homework every night, use the time to review notes. If sitting down to work is part of your normal routine, you’ll approach it with less dread. Also, you’ll become a pro at using time productively.

"I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing, than to incur the reproach of our consciences and posterity"
Robert E. Lee

Doing the right is always the right thing to do. People almost never choose the right because it won't benefit them, but that's not how it works. If you want to buy something you really wanted and on your way to the store there's an old lady who is homeless not because of drugs but because she was born into to the world like that, you should do the right thing and help her out. A great example would be Jon Bon Jovi,. HE uses his fame and money to feed those who don't have money at all. He also donates lots of money to charities to help those ineed.

Part 4
For Review
Once you’ve done all of the above, you’ll find you’ve created your own personalized studying guide. Cover the main section of the page and use the key words and questioned in the left margin. As a quiz.
Stick to It
Review your notes the day you take them and all your notes once a week. That way, you won’t need to study as much when it’s test time. You’ve been doing the work all along. Try out the Cornell system, but if it doesn’t work for you, experiment with other methods. Ask your classmates how they take notes or ask a teacher for advice. Taking good notes requires practice, like any other skill. And the more you work at it now, the more prepared you’ll be take notes in college.

After Class
As soon as class ends, review your notes and fill in any blanks. Underline, highlight and use symbols to sort through the information. If you don’t understand something, get help form your teacher or classmates.
After you’ve reviewed all your notes from class, in the left- hand area pf the page write down key words and questions your teacher might ask on a test.
At the bottom of each page, write a summary of the notes. This helps you digest what you’ve learned. It also improves your memory of the material for the long term and for tests down the road

"He listens well who takes notes"

You can expect yourself to memorize something that you heard, especially if it's a lecture. It's good to jog down notes because you can always look over something you may not understand or just use it to study for a test.

During class
One approach that has been proven effective is called the Cornell Note-Taking System. Here are some of its methods.
Start by using the main section of your page to take down your notes during class. Be sure to leave space on the left side of the page and the bottom. Things to keep in mind:
1.     Get the speaker’s main points. Don’t write every word you hear.
2.     Leave blanks in your notes to add explanations later.
3.     Organize as you write. Pay attention to cues such as repetition and emphasis.
4.     Indicate main and supporting points as you go.
5.     Jot down key vocabulary, important facts and formulas.
6.     Ask questions. if you’re confused, it’s better to ask while the material is fresh in your mind.

The Fighter Bon Jovi

The fIghter lyrics
Bon Jovi

I should write down these words 'fore I lose them
Or write you a song just to use them
Someday you may wanna know who I am,
Beyond this facade no guitar in my hand
No I am not a writer
These eyes hold no secrets I hide no truths
I am all I am, all I was to you
The lie and the promise, the great escape artist,
The weed in your garden in that place you're still guarding
Where I am not a liar
I am the fighter, though not a boxer by trade
I am the fighter, few will remember my name
These are hands that can offer protection
But hid me from my own reflection
I'm that book that ain't finished, a sink full of dishes,
The horse that ain't winning, the priest that's still sinning
The spark that starts the fire
I am the fighter, though not a boxer by trade
I am the fighter, few will remember my name
With loneliness next to me, feels its misery, nursing another black eye
On the New Jersey turnpike, counting the headlights
Those cars just like days pass me by
I am the fighter, though not a boxer by trade
I am the fighter, few will remember my name
I am the fighter, though not a boxer by trade
I am the fighter, a fighter's born but not made
I should write down these words 'fore I lose them
Or write you a song just to use them.
