It's online, but Is it on Target? part 3

It’s online, but Is it On Target?
Part 3
Dot – What?
Look at the site’s address. What follows the dot?
·        Dot-com is not only for business; anyone can use it. Dot-coms include well- known and respected companies, but also private individuals.
·        Dot-org usually indicates a not-for-profit organization. Many dot-orgs unbiased information, but others have political agendas, focus on debatable issues instead of facts, and might not present present all sides of an argument.
·        Dot-gov indicates a government website at the federal, state or local level. The federal government is a good source of statistics, and its sites are widely considered among the most reliable.
·        Dot-mail is used by sites that are a part of the military.
·        Dot-edu usually indicates a university website. While its published research is generally considered very trustworthy, anyone associated with the university, whether a world-reowned scholar or a freshman, can be given space on its server. Professors sometimes put student course work up on the web, but that doesn’t mean they’re vouching for the information accuracy.

Student success statement

Student Success Statement
"Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking our potential"
Liane Cordes
Reflection:
I agree with this statement because all though you may have it all does not compare to those who worked so hard and achieved there goal. There are those who are born with everything. They're parents were rich so now the offspring is rich, but the one who works the hardest and never stops is the the one that really deserves the credit.

Its online, but is it on target?

Part 2
Research with attitude
Conduct your research with the attitude of a skeptic. As you examine websites for clues that they’re trustworthy, ask these questions:
·         Who wrote the web page? If you can’t identify the individual or organization responsible for the information, don’t use it.
·         What are the author’s qualifications for writing on the subject/ has the article passed through an editorial process designed to ensure quality and accuracy?
·         What is the website’s purpose? Look for motives – like selling products or winning votes- that could result i biased or incomplete information.
·         Is the information accurate? Is it up-to-date?
·         Where did the author get this information?

STUDENT SUCCESS STATEMENT
"WHEN AN ARCHER MISSES THE MARK, HE TURNS AND LOOKS FOR THE FAULT WITHIN HIMSELF. FAILURE TO HIT THE BULLS-EYE IS NEVER THE FAULT OF THE TARGET. TO IMPROVE YOUR AIM, IMPROVE YOURSELF."
REFLECTION:
YOUR NEVER GOING TO REACH YOU DESIRED GOAL IF YOU NEVER TRY. YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT MAKES UP EXCUSES. NOBODY ELSE DOES IT FOR YOU.IF YOU LIKE SOMEONE AND YOU DON'T GET THE GUTS TO EVEN TRY TO ASK THIS PERSON OUT, ITS NOT THE PERSONS FAULT BUT YOUR FOR NOT TRYING. YOU MISS 100% OF THE SHOTS YOU DON'T TRY TO MAKE.

RECITE
AT THE END OF EACH SECTION, LOOK UP FROM THE TEXT AND IN YOUR WORDS RECITE AN ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTIONS FOR THAT QUESTION FOR THAT SECTION. THEN WRITE DOWN YOUR ANSWER. BE SURE TO PROVIDE EXAMPLES THAT SUPPORT IT.
NOW THAT REPEAT THE QUESTION, READ AND RECITE STEPS FOR EACH SECTION OF THE CHAPTER. FIRST ASK A QUESTION FOR THE NEXT SECTION. THEN READ TO FIND THE ANSWER. FINALLY, RECITE THE ANSWER IN YOUR WORDS AND JOT IT DOWN. THE WRITTEN QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS CAN HELP YOU STUDY IN THE FUTURE.
REVIEW
AFTER COMPLETING THE CHAPTER, REVIEW YOUR NOTES. IDENTIFY THE MAIN POITS BY LOOKING FOR THE MOST IMPOTANT IDEA IN EACH SECTION. RECITE, OR WRITE, A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNMENT.
REVIEW YOUR STUDY NOTES EVERY WEEK TO HELP YOU REMEMBER THE INFORMATION. WHEN IT’S TIME TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TESTS, YOU’LL FIND CREATED AN INVALUABLE STUDY GUIDE.

"THE FIRST LAW OF SUCCESS... IS CONCENTRATION; TO BEND ALL THE ENERGIES TO ONE POINT, AND TO GO DIRECTLY TO THAT POINT, LOOKING NEITHER TO THE RIGHT NOR THE LEFT."
William Mathews
I AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T YOUR SELF TO THAT ONE GOAL AND MAKE UP EXCUSES LIKE YOUR NOT GOOD ENOUGH, THEN YOU WON'T MAKE IT. IF YOU KNOW YOUR KNOW YOUR NOT GOOD ENOUGH BUT YOU STILL GIVE IT YOUR 100%, IT INCREASES YOUR CHANCES OF MAKING IT.

Question
As you survey the text, ask a question for each section. Ask what, why, how, when, who and where questions as they each relate to the content. Here’s how you can create questions.
·         Turn the title, headings or subheadings into questions.
·         Rewrite the questions at the end of the chapter or after each subheading in your own questions
Write down your questions. Questions help you pay attention, understand the text better and recall the information more easily later on.
Read
Read one section of the chapter at any time, actively looking for an answer to your question for that section. Pay attention to bold and italicized text that authors use to make important points.
Be sure to review everything in the section, including tables, graphs, illustrations- these features can communicate an idea more powerfully than written text.
