Student Success Statement
"BE always sure you're right then go ahead"
Davy Crockett

Refection
Always do something for the right thing, never for the wrong things. This statement says to go right ahead do what you want if it's the right thing. An example would be superman. He is a hero who never used is powers to do wrong, or he never did it for the attention. He did it because he can. Although it's not real, it shows a good example for this statement.

"I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing, than to incur the reproach of our consciences and posterity"
Robert E. Lee

Doing the right is always the right thing to do. People almost never choose the right because it won't benefit them, but that's not how it works. If you want to buy something you really wanted and on your way to the store there's an old lady who is homeless not because of drugs but because she was born into to the world like that, you should do the right thing and help her out. A great example would be Jon Bon Jovi,. HE uses his fame and money to feed those who don't have money at all. He also donates lots of money to charities to help those ineed.

"If it was not right , do not do it; if it is not true , do not say it."
Marcus Aurelius

I agree with this student success statement because you shouldn't do whats not right to do. also you should never say a lie because it is not right and you may hurt someone's feelings. You should never choose the wrong. Always remember to do whats right!

Selecting your Courses

Selecting your Courses

Part 2

The following subjects and classes are standard fare for success in high school and beyond, whether you plan to attend a four year or two year college.

English (Language Arts)

Take English every year. Traditional courses, such as American and English Literature, help you improve your writing skills, reading comprehension and vocabulary.

Math

You need algebra and geometry to succeed on college entrance exams and in college math classes—and in many careers. Take them early on. That way, you’ll be able to enroll in advanced science and math in high school, and show colleges you’re ready for higher-level work.

Most colleges look for students who have taken three years of math in high school. The more competitive ones require or recommend four years. Each school has its own program, but some of the courses typically offered are:

· Algebra I

· Algebra II

· Geometry

· Trigonometry

· Calculus

Science
Science teaches you to think analytically and apply theories to reality. Colleges want to see that you’ve been taken at least three years of laboratory science classes. A good combination includes two semesters of each of the following science:
-         Biology
-         Chemistry or Physics
-         Earth/Space science
More competitive schools expect you to take four years of lab science courses. You can add two semesters in one of the following subjects:
-         Chemistry or Physics (the science you didn’t already study)
-         Advanced biology
-         Advanced Chemistry
-         Advanced Physics

STUDENT SUCCESS STATEMENT!!!!!!
“ So often, in our quest to be more popular and to be part of the “in-group,” we lose sight of the things that are far  more important”
Sean Covey
I agree with this quote because we all try to be a part of something, but we always want more. We want to be the best at something or the main part of something. We get so caught up in the moment that we lose track of what is more important than what you want.

7 habits

7 habits of Highly Successful Students
Habit 5
5. Seek first to understand and then be understood !
Because most people don’t listen very well, one of the great frustrations in life is that many don’t feel understood. This habit will ensure your teen learns the most important communications skill there is: active listening.
Why is this habit the key to communication? It’s Its because the deepest need of the human heart is to be understood. Everyone wants to be respected and valued for who they are- unique, one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-cloned individual. People won’t expose their soft middles unless they feel it, however, they will tell you more than you may want to hear. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much care. Listen with your eyes, hearts, and ears. 7 percent of communication is contained in the words we use. The rest comes from body language (53 percent) and how we say words, or the tone feeling reflected in our voice (40 percent). Most people are eager to talk and had rather talk than listen. We actually learn more while listening rather than when we talk. Learn to listen to to learn.
Listen, really listen, for understanding. Seek first to understand then to be understood.--- Listen.

7 habits of highly successful teens habits

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens
Habits
Habit 3: Put First Things First
Habit three is about Will and Will Not power. This habit helps teens prioritize and manage their time so that they focus on and complete the most important things in their lives. Putting first things also means learning to overcome fears and being strong during difficult times. Its living life according to what matters most. Putting first things deal with things:
Important or not important, urgent. Let’s look at the four quadrants of time management.
Quadrant 1: things that are Important and urgent
Quadrant 2: things that are important but urgent
Quadrant 3: Things that are not important but urgent
Quadrant 4: Things that are not Important and not urgent
1.     Important And Urgent
2.   Important but not Urgent
3.    Not important but are Urgent
4.  Not Important and Urgent
Quadrant 2 is the ideal place to spend our time, dong things that are important but not urgent. Here’s where priorities come into play.
The results for living Quadrant 2 are.
1.     Control of your life.
2.   Balance
3.    High performance

So, in what quadrant are you spending most of your time? The key is to shift as much time as possible into quadrant 2 and this is accomplished by planning. Spend more time planning and incorporating the most important things first, things that matter most. Keep your eyes on the prize and reach for it

Profile of a Success Student Part 3

Profile of a Successful Student
Part 3
…owns or has easy access to a computer with Internet access e-mail
You don’t have to be a computer expert to be successful in online learning but you must have access to a personal computer with reliable internet access as well as basic level of competency in using them. Owning a computer with internet access from your home is ideal but many students use the computer labs on campus or at their offices to complete their work.

We said you don’t have to be a computer expert to be successful in online leaning. However there are some basic technical skills you should have mastered prior to enrolling in an online course.

Successful Students

Successful Students
10
10.. Successful students are good time managers. Successful students do not procrastinate. They have learned that time control is life control and have consciously chosen to be control of their life.
An element truth: you will either control time or be controlled but it! Its your choice: you can lead or to led, establish control or relinquish control, steer your own course or follow others. Failure to take control of their own time is probably the no. 1 study skill problem for college students. It ultimately causes
many students to become non-students! Procrastinators are good excuse-makers. Don’t procrastinating. And don’t wait until tomorrow to do it.
The 10 items listed above are paraphrased from an article by Larry M Ludewig called Ten Commandments for Effective Study Skills which appeared in The Teaching Professor, December, 1992.

Successful Students 9

Successful Students
9
9…. Don’t cram for exams. Successful students know that divided periods of study are more effective than cram sessions, and they practice it.
If there is one thing that study skills specialists agree on, it is that distributed study is better than massed, late-night, last ditch efforts known as cramming. You’ll learn more, remember more, and earn a higher grade by studying in four, one hour-a-night sessions for Friday’s exam than studying for four hours straight on Thursday night. Short, concentrated preparatory efforts are more efficient and rewarding than wasteful, inattentive, last moment marathons. Yet, so many students fail to learn this lesson and end up repeating it over and over again until it becomes a wasteful habit. Not too clever, huh?
When you cram, you are taking the shortcut, and shortcuts never produced any real worthwhile results. Also, when you take shortcuts, you feel rather rotten knowing that you could have done better but didn’t. shortcuts cut you short. You can’t pant watermelon seeds and harvest fresh watermelons the next day. It takes time. Cramming for a test or project and  expecting to make a high score the next day is like planting watermelons seeds and expecting to harvest and eat fresh watermelon the next day. Plus cramming for a test or project doesn’t help you academically, so why even do it. Plan ahead. Give yourself plenty of days and weeks to prepare for upcoming accountability opportunities.

"What's right isn't always popular. What's popular isn't always right."
By: Howard Cosell

Being popular isn't everything. Simply because you do something good doesn't really mean that you''l become famous. For example, helping an old lady walk across the street or helping her out with her groceries. By helping her out your already doing the right thing, but it doesn't mean everyone will remeber your name, thats not important.

High School Graduation Pleasure or pain

High School Graduation

High School graduation can be a very great thing because you know that all the hard work you put in to your school work is finally going to pay off. But if you didn't take your time do all of the hard work others did, you'll miss out on one of the greatest days of your life. all your close friends will have the pleasure of going to the new world but you won't if and ONLY of you don't put in the hard work others did. Cheating won;t get you anywhere. if you graduate by cheating your way to high school, then life after high school will be terrible. if you do the right and do all your hard work, you will have a great graduation!

Summary and Reflection

Summary
Tennessee is famous for horses. They have many competitions for example the Walking horse. But people have been cheating and they have been cought. McConnell was a horse trainer for these kind of competitions. But he cheated by giving foreign substances and found 52 horses with these substances. He has been found guilty

Reflection
I think what McConnell did was extreamly horrible. Treating other living organisms like that is not right at all. especially for a medal. Winning and causing pain to animals is not the right way to go. It disgusted me to hear that he had no comments for the crimes he has committed.

Sarah's Academic Success Story part 1

Sarah’s Academic Success Story
Part 1
Time management became a key factor in my study skills for college. In high school, there were times I was able to study for an hour or two the night before a test and get away with it. This was not the case in college. I made sure in college I was prepared for each class. Sometimes that meant writing out the terms for the chapter we read (even if when it isn’t required) to better understand them. That way when the midterm or test comes around I was able to understand what I was studying. I started taking excellent notes in class in college. I may have done this in high school, but in college I started typing up the notes after class. This helped me remember what I just went over in class then when I had a test one week later I was more  likely to remember them as well. My overall study method: Structured. One thing I learned was I had to adapt or change my study method according to the class. I couldn’t study for a Religion sure I had enough time to study for each class—even if it meant carrying a planner with me at all times was a big part of my success.

Work Together part 3

Work Together
Part 3
Here are my final words of wisdom for students who want to get better grades in college: A big thing that not many will say is to ask for help if you needed it. It’s not a bad thing to not understand, it’s a bad thing if you doing do anything about it. Plan you time out so you are completing everything that needs to get done and leave time to double check. Write things down and have good management skills. Ask for help is probably the biggest thing I can say though. If you don’t understand, go to office or find a classmate that does understand and is willing to help you. If you try hard, it will come to you. I find myself thinking that I would have to try harder to fail than I try to succeed. It is something that is within me to succeed. If this is not who you that success is something that is amazing to find! Good luck!

" Try a little a harder and be a little better"
By Gordon B. Hinckley

It's not hard to try a little harder, it's not difficult to be a liitle better. Choosing the right means your life will be a little better. And in the darkness there will always be a light only if you choose the right.
